When you visit our Aldgate serviced offices, take a moment to enjoy the artwork on our walls by London resident George Colley.
It was purely by chance that we came across this artist's work, and we have Leyland Paints to thank. We were in the paint shop planning our latest colour scheme, and George was mulling over some colours too, for his frames. We got chatting, and heard all about his impending exhibition at the Mercer Chance gallery in Hoxton. After seeing the works in this show, we agreed we needed to have the whole collection in our Aldgate building, as they resonated with us so much.
George's work describes London in a state of flux; demolition, regeneration and construction. Something we are surrounded and affected by every day of our working lives. He makes his drawings and original prints in situ, on the streets of London, so they have a feel of immediacy and vibrancy. An honest account of what is happening in the here and now.
